SFHS Secondary Food Health & Safety
This fully accredited practical training course will familiarise you with the D&T Association’s Specialist Food Training Standards (SFHS), in line with their guided hours for Initial Training:
- Secondary Food Health & Safety (4-6 hours)
Note 1: When Refresher Training is required, D&TA’s guided hours can be reduced to 3-4 hours.
This course is suitable for everyone who teaches and supports secondary food technology, home economics, catering or for those who lead cookery clubs or food activities in schools, including teachers, technicians, teaching assistants, trainee teachers and special needs support staff.
The course involves practical experience in the use of kitchen equipment, blenders, food processors, microwave etc. and a typical day runs from 08:30-16:00 including the starter and plenary tasks.
Wherever possible, we recommend hosting the training at your own school or college, using your own equipment – this ensures the session is highly relevant to your department.
Note 2: The SFHS accreditation can only be applied for when delegates have a current Level 2 Food Safety certification, evidence of which will be required on the day. Otherwise, this can be built into the training if required – please discuss when booking.
After the session, delegates receive a digital download pack which includes current legislation, guidance materials and a range of editable H&S resources.
All the activities meet current D&T Association Training Standards.
Book today to ensure your team is confident and compliant when delivering Food lessons and using kitchen equipment – practical, hands-on training delivered by experienced D&T Health & Safety Consultants.
