SCHS Secondary Core Health & Safety (Initial) Training
The Design & Technology Association recommends that all teachers, technicians and support staff working in D&T should work towards achieving accreditation at the Secondary Core Health & Safety Level.
This SCHS initial Training course will familiarise you with the D&T Association Core Level Training Standards covering risk assessment, and will enable you to complete personal H&S portfolio for accreditation through the completion of 10 areas, including:
- Core Standards
- Environmental Issues
- Risk Assessment
- Legal issues surrounding delivery of Design & Technology
- LEV, COSHH, PAT, Maintenance etc.
The portfolio also provides a personal record of the H&S training undertaken by D&T staff and how their department manages H&S to provide learners with a safe and healthy working environment.
A typical day runs from 08:30 to 16:00, including starter and plenary tasks.
This course is suitable for both teachers and technicians, working in all material areas of the subject, and will extend and update your knowledge and understanding of health and safety.
The SCHS Initial Training is also particularly effective when departments complete this as a whole team, as this helps to ensure a consistent approach to the management of H&S across all areas of the department.
Note 1: There is no machine training included in this course.
After the session, delegates receive a digital download pack which includes current legislation, guidance materials and a range of editable H&S resources.
All the activities meet current D&T Association Training Standards.
Book today to ensure your team is confident and compliant with managing H&S within your department – practical, hands-on training delivered by experienced D&T Health & Safety Consultants.
Note 2: Courses are also regularly hosted at other centres (see Upcoming Events), which can be more cost-effective if only one or two members of staff require SCHS training.
