S8HS Planer Thicknesser Machines Health & Safety Training
This fully accredited workshop-based practical training covers the following planer/thicknesser machines, in line with The Design & Technology Association’s guided hours for Initial Training:
- Surface Planer (2 hours)
- Thicknesser (2 hours)
Note 1: When Refresher Training is required, D&TA’s guided hours for surface planer and thicknesser machines can be reduced to 1 hour each.
A typical day runs from 08:30-16:00, including starter and plenary tasks.
Wherever possible, we recommend hosting the training at your own school or college, using your own machines and equipment – this ensures the session is highly relevant to your department.
The S8HS course will enable delegates to acquire H&S accreditation through a ‘hands-on’ approach, using an overhand planer and thicknesser to cover a range of wood-machining processes that are commonly required to accurately and safely prepare materials within school workshops.
During the training both aspects of your machine are discussed in depth when undertaking a ‘mini audit’ and a range of maintenance activities are also carried out, as required.
After the session, delegates receive a digital download pack containing current legislation, guidance materials and a range of editable H&S resources.
All activities meet current D&T Association Training Standards.
Book today and ensure your team is confident and compliant when using planer/thicknesser machines – practical, hands-on training delivered by experienced D&T Health & Safety Consultants.
Note 2: Courses are also regularly hosted at other centres (see Upcoming Events), which can be more cost-effective if only one or two members of staff require S8HS training.
