S1HS Woodsawing Machines Health & Safety Training
This fully accredited practical H&S training course covers the following woodsawing machines, in line with The Design & Technology Association’s guided hours for Initial Training:
- Circular Table Saw (3 hours)
- Narrow Bandsaw (3 hours)
- Chopsaw (1 hour)
- Radial Arm Saw (1 hour)
- Vertical Panel Saw (1 hour)
Note 1: It is usually possible to cover up to 6 hours of ‘hands-on’ training in a full day as a bespoke course tailored to your particular needs.
Note 2: For Refresher Training, D&TA’s guided hours for the circular table saw and narrow bandsaw can be reduced to 2 hours each.
A typical day runs from 08:30 to 16:00, including starter and plenary tasks.
Wherever possible, we recommend hosting the training at your own school or college, using your own machines and equipment – this ensures the session is highly relevant to your department.
During the S1HS training, delegates undertake a variety of practical exercises to prepare them for the range of woodsawing processes commonly required to accurately and safely prepare materials within school workshops.
Over the course of the day, your machines are also discussed in depth when undertaking a ‘mini audit’ and a range of maintenance activities are carried out, as required.
After the session, delegates receive a digital download pack containing current legislation, guidance materials and a range of editable H&S resources.
This course is suitable for teachers, technicians and other staff who are required to use this equipment.
All activities meet current D&TA Training Standards.
Book today to ensure your team is confident and compliant when using woodsawing machines – practical, hands-on training delivered by experienced D&T Health & Safety Consultants.
Note 3: Courses are also regularly hosted at other centres (see Upcoming Events), which can be more cost-effective if only one or two members of staff require S1HS training.
