SFHS Secondary Food Health & Safety

This fully accredited practical training course will familiarise you with the D&T Association’s Specialist Food Training Standards (SFHS), in line with their guided hours for Initial Training:

  • Secondary Food Health & Safety (4-6 hours)

Note 1: When Refresher Training is required, D&TA’s guided hours can be reduced to 3-4 hours.

This course is suitable for everyone who teaches and supports secondary food technology, home economics, catering or for those who lead cookery clubs or food activities in schools, including teachers, technicians, teaching assistants, trainee teachers and special needs support staff.

The course involves practical experience in the use of kitchen equipment, blenders, food processors, microwave etc. and a typical day runs from 08:30-16:00 including the starter and plenary tasks. It is also preferable that this training takes place at your own school/college (using your own equipment) where possible.

Note 2: The SFHS accreditation can only be applied for when delegates have a current Level 2 Food Safety certification, evidence of which will be required on the day. Otherwise, this can be built into the training if required – please discuss when booking.

Following the session delegates will receive a digital download pack which includes current legislation, guidance materials and a range of editable H&S resources.

All the activities conform to the current D&T Association Training Standards.
