S4HS Metal Arc Welding Health & Safety Training
This fully accredited practical training course covers the safe use of metal arc welding equipment, in line with The Design & Technology Association’s guided hours for Initial Training:
- MMA (3 hours)
- MAG (3 hours)
- MIG (3 hours)
- TIG (3 hours)
- Spot (1 hours)
Note 1: When Refresher Training is required, D&TA’s guided hours for MMA, MAG, MIG and TIG welding can be reduced to 2 hours each.
This course will enable delegates to acquire H&S accreditation through a ‘hands on’ approach using the different electric welding techniques. Delegates will have opportunity to develop skills in Manual Metal Arc (MMA), Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG), Spot welding and plasma cutting.
A typical day runs from 08:30-16:00 including the starter and plenary tasks, and it is also preferable that this training takes place at your own school/college (using your own equipment) where possible.
Note 2: It is usually possible to cover up to 6 hours of ‘hands on’ training in a full day as a ‘bespoke’ course that is tailored to your particular needs.
In addition to the ‘hands on’ requirements of the training, your equipment is discussed in depth when undertaking a ‘mini audit’ and a range of maintenance activities are also carried out, as required.
Following the session delegates will receive a digital download pack which includes current legislation, guidance materials and a range of editable H&S resources.
All the activities conform to the current D&T Association Training Standards.
