S3HS Casting Non-Ferrous Metals Health & Safety Training
This fully accredited practical training course covers the safe use of sand casting with non-ferrous metals, in line with The Design & Technology Association’s guided hours for Initial Training:
- Casting Non-Ferrous Metals (4-6 hours)
Note: When Refresher Training is required, D&TA’s guided hours for casting non-ferrous metals can be reduced to 3-4 hours.
This course is suitable for colleagues wishing to demonstrate or use the sand casting process in a school environment and will enable delegates to acquire H&S accreditation through a ‘hands on’ approach. The course involves practical experience in the manufacture of a “casting” in aluminium.
A typical day runs from 08:30-16:00 including the starter and plenary tasks, and it is also preferable that this training takes place at your own school/college (using your own equipment) where possible.
In addition to the ‘hands on’ requirements of the training, your casting facilities are discussed in depth when undertaking a ‘mini audit’ and a range of maintenance activities are also carried out, as required.
Following the session delegates will receive a digital download pack which includes current legislation, guidance materials and a range of editable H&S resources.
All the activities conform to the current D&T Association Training Standards.
